Considering Christening

Considering Christening is a short programme of events which are all connected with God's love and care for children and their families.  As early as possible, we hold a special Service of Thanksgiving for God's gift of the child to the family.  Then there is a four-session series of one hour informal discussions with the Rector about relevant issues.  (Over coffee, we watch a couple of film clips and talk together about some parts of the Bible.) The final discussion looks in some detail at the promises and declarations that the parents must make in the Christening service itself.  Though there are particular things we have to discuss during these four sessions, we also try to answer any question that parents have.  Please note that this fourth discussion session is the earliest date at which we will arrange a date for a Christening service.

Alongside this, parents are expected to come to church services on Sundays and to attend one of our Christianity Explored courses.  We make no apology that this may seem like a lot of commitment; there are important things at stake here, and our experience is that those who follow it through value it greatly.

If you are interested, please complete the following form.  The Rector will be in touch to arrange a meeting with you to discuss how we can best help you.
